So what’s the big deal about connections?
Why should a buyer care about this?
Well – to be honest, sometimes they don’t matter at all.
You might actually just get lucky with everyone you work with, and everything turns out for you perfectly with no stress.
But more often than not, things are not entirely smooth.
And as it turns out – the people you work with, who should work on your behalf, can make the difference in you getting that house you want — or losing it.
How?
When you go to buy a house, you enter into a game of schedules, timing and contracts, and lots of things are supposed to happen in a correct order and on time.
That means you need to have reliable, responsible people working with you that respect the home buying process, and care about helping you get what you need.
Who are the people a buyer needs to connect with?
Most importantly, concerning timing and contracts, these people include your lawyer, your inspector(s), and your loan officer (if borrowing money).
It will also include your real estate agent, unless you decided not to use one.
(To learn more about why anyone even needs a real estate agent, see our blog entry)
As the client being served, you are at the center of all these people and they will serve you best if they communicate readily not only with you but with each other as needed.
This is important because issues will come up. If something must be resolved ASAP, you need to have responsive people watching out for your interests.
Your best insurance for having the process go smoothly is when the
people on your team work well together and trust each other.
How do you put a great team together?
It’s all about contacts. If you already know great people who you know will work well together, you can engage them on your behalf.
If you do not, an excellent real estate agent who represents you, the buyer, can help you put a great team together.
They will have worked with enough people that they will have great recommendations for you; and will want to hook you up with people that are easy to work with and get the job done.
In summary:
The right team working for you can make or break a deal, resulting in you either getting the home of your dreams, or losing it! The right team starts with making use of the right connections – and this is something your real estate professional is great at!
